About City Auditorium

Approved by Colorado Springs City Council on January 24, 2004.

The City Auditorium Block is located on the eastern edge of Downtown Colorado Springs and anchored by a historically-significant performing arts facility that while still in productive use, has fallen into disrepair. Other uses within the block include office and retail spaces, supported by surface parking lots. Elements of a redevelopment program in the area include a mix of vertically integrated residential and non-residential uses, including a hotel, with supporting commercial retail space at the street level. Whereas redevelopment efforts in Downtown have been largely concentrated along its western and southern edges, reinvestment in the City’s Auditorium Block would serve to balance that investment with an improvement on its eastern edge.
